I posted this on my facebook back in June but felt the need to post again. It's just that important. I said this to a client who was going through a break up - meaning that in order to heal your past trauma (whatever kind of trauma you have), you'll have to feel the feelings of pain, hurt, anger, guilt.
Brene Brown's recent book, Rising Strong, speaks of the "numbing" of these painful emotions. And who would WANT to feel them? But it becomes so important to work through the pain - because when we numb the pain, we also dull the positive emotions.
Allow yourself to feel the pain: cry, get upset, etc. Write about it, talk about it, sing about it. Do anything you can to really feel what you know (deep down inside, you know!) you'll need to feel. It's not about "getting over it," it's about "getting through it." Truly Healing.
And with that kind of awareness, you can explore, transform and embrace your life.
How does it feel to heal your inner wounds? What does it mean to be fully alive?
